23"  Krishna with Radha in Bronze,                                                                             Bronze statues of Radha and Krishna in the Hoysala style are characterized by a profusion of intricate and realistic detailing. The style is inspired by the temple sculptures of the Hoysala Empire, which flourished in southern India between the 11th and 14th centuries.
Key features of Hoysala-style bronze Radha Krishna statues
Stylistic elements
Ornate ornamentation: The most striking feature of the Hoysala style is the incredible amount of elaborate, layered decoration. The figures of Radha and Krishna are laden with finely crafted jewelry, including earrings, necklaces, armlets, bracelets, and anklets, often obscuring the physical form beneath.
Intricate carvings: The craftsmanship is so meticulous that the statues resemble delicate lacework. The carvings are incredibly fine and detailed, reflecting the artistic mastery of the artisans who perfected the technique using soft soapstone in Hoysala temples.
Tribhanga pose: Krishna is frequently depicted in the tribhanga or triple-bent pose, with one leg gracefully bent and raised while playing his flute (Venugopala or Muralidhara). Radha is also shown in an enchanting, triple-bent posture, exuding feminine allure.
Musical and naturalistic themes: The statues often capture the divine moment of Krishna playing his flute, with Radha standing in blissful adoration. They may be sheltered under a tree with artistically detailed leaves, emphasizing the natural settings of their love stories.
Graceful figures and expressions: Despite being heavily ornamented, the figures retain a sense of graceful movement and expressiveness. Krishna often has a serene or joyous expression, while Radha's pose and ornamentation mirror his divine form.
Iconographic details
Krishna's appearance: Krishna wears a magnificent crown (Kiritamukuta), often topped with a peacock feather. He is adorned with ornate jewelry, a distinctive waist belt (Udarbandh), armbands (Makar Keyur), and a garland (Vanamala) that drapes elegantly to his knees.
Radha's appearance: Radha is depicted with equally elaborate ornaments and a distinctive, ornate hairstyle. Her regalia complements Krishna's, representing their perfect union as the male and female divine energies.
Symbolic setting: The couple is often shown standing on a pedestal, sometimes in the form of an inverted lotus, with detailed floral or animal motifs.
